Jean Audet, the founder of Vermont Equine Tours, returned to horseback riding after 20 years spent raising her children, running her sheep farm and helping her husband on his dairy farm. When the last child flew the nest, Jean decided she had time for horses again. In fact, her vet and long-time friend referred to her as a “Born again Rider” after her return to riding.
Jean decided to enter the world of endurance riding. She spent hours training on the numerous back roads near her farm. She discovered many single track trails that linked the gravel roads. Often her training rides would take her by out of the way inns. She would think how nice it would be to just stop and spend the night in the inn and then continue her ride in the morning. The idea for Vermont Equine Tours grew out of these training rides.
As a rider on Vermont Equine Tours, you benefit from the long hours Jean has spent in the saddle. The rides are fashioned to accommodate various skill levels. Most of the riding in the Champlain Valley is over gentle hills, but there are also trails and roads that are more difficult. You get to choose what suits your ability and your horse’s ability.
